What a wonderful day of golfing history. Not only was the weather perfect , we started earlier than booked.
The mist lefted to a glorious sun filled day. This four ball allaince was wll organised and enjoyed by all.
some golf was ok and others had a fantastic day.
To say the sponsors did an amazing day was an understatement. Alex and his young team of five
had so many prizes it was really special. The comments and emails that followed were a tribute to the
"social " side of our society.

Well guys, we are officially past the winter solstice and the days are only going to get longer from here....which means 2 things in my books 1) More golf and 2) More beer...put those 2 things together and you have a recipe for happiness!!! Well done to our Westlake winners Wyatt, Denver, Alex and Jean. Lets hope the form continues into the Wellington game.
Speaking of Wellington, it is nearly upon us. The game is on the 30th of July and will be sponsored by Jamie and Richie Luke. Word has it that it will be a team effort from the Teebox. Dont forget to get your name on the booking sheet and pay that money to the man...and as always...happy golfing!!!

March 2023 - Club Champs
Well what a treat the Club Champs were! Ceres Golf Club delivered once again...and luckily for us the weather gods were on our side! I dont think I have ever played on greens as tough as the Ceres greens. Word on the street is that they have an ex Fancourt greens keeper looking after the greens. I could've sworn he worked for Augusta National :-)
We have a new Club Champ in the house...can we get a whoop whoop for Russell Nel!!! Shooting a net of 61 on day 2 was unbelievable! Well done Russell. We hope you wear the club champ mantel with pride over the nexr 12 months.
Our next event is the annual Leyland Memorial Competition held at Somerset West GC at the end of April. Be sure to confirm your spots as soon as possoble. This is always a fun day and in memory of our legends no longer with us. See you there!

February's game at Devonvale was awesome! Well done to Ruan Simon for shooting the lights out on the day! A gross of 73 with a net of 65 is a brilliant score! Well done young man. Well that was quick. We blink and our Bellville game has come and gone! Well done to the winners on the day - Bradley Barnes & Gavin Connor! Well done chaps.
Our next game is at Devonvalle Golf Club on 26 February 2023. The game will be sponsored by Rudi & Rodney. Thanks for stepping up gents.
Please also dont forget to book for Club Champs. The game has been moved to 01/02 April 2023 and will be played in Ceres at the amazing Ceres Country Club Golf Course. For those that were there 2 years ago I think I can safely say the accommodation, the course everything was just top drawer stuff - you dont want to miss this club champs.

What a year of golf we had for Leyland Golf Society. We played some awesome courses. Our Club Champs in Langebaan was incredible. Some highs and some lows. I think the player of the year has to go to......Ruan Simon. He did mention to me at the beginning of the year that he wanted to win all the prizes. Apart from the Memorial tournament, he did just that. Top Gun winner, Club Champ winner, Most NTP winner. I wonder what he has in store for us in 2023. Well done Ruan, and well played!
As we look to 2023, our first game is at the one leg shorter than the other course....Bellville! Make sure you book those carts early. Bellville in the heat is no joke! Our Club Champs in 2023 will be at Ceres Golf Course! One of my favourites. Please make sure you book your spot as accommodation is limited.
Our final event of the year was great! Well done Blue Team...although I think there may been some dodgy counting with the scores as I was convinced the White Team won it on the day. Nevertheless, well done to the Blue Team! Have a safe festive season and come back stronger than ever...we have some great golf courses lined up for 2023!

Well guys we have come to the end of the year and the last game at Kuilsriver is just around the corner. We had a great turnout at Malmesbury! Thanks for the sponsors on the day! It is much appreciated (Marco, Shaun and Simon). And well done to the winners, Earl George, Bradley Barnes & Johnny King - Brad that cut for the final game is going to hurt...ouch! The final game is on the 18th of December and is the usual White vs Blue team event! Make sure you book and secure your spot as this day is always a fun outing. Might be a great idea if we all Uber there so we can party hard afterwards! See you gents there!

Kleinmond Day was awesome!! How was the party bus??? I bet some of you wish there was a toilet on board! Wow what a day we had at Hazendal Mashy Golf Course! I think I can speak for everyone when I say it was an enjoyable day and soooo good for the short game (if we can still find it). I hope the Committee plans on booking there next year again because I wanna go back!

As we look towards the October game which will be held at Kleinmond Golf Club. Remember there is a bus that will be taking us all to the course leaving early morning from Edgemead Soccer Club and returning later in the day after our round. Lets just say the bus will be like a party bus, so please head on over to book your game. We need at least 40 people on board the bus to make it worthwhile.

Metropolitan was great! The course was in a fantastic condition, and I think we all agree that those greens are by far the best in Cape Town. True, straight and fast!
Well done to the winners on the day winning with a combined score of 104 points. Ivan is going to need a calculator if things carry on like this.

What a turnout we had at the Leyland Memorial Tournament this year! It was fantastic to see all the players, guests
and friends as well as family of our fallen legends. Well done to Anthony Ketcher on winning the
individual stableford competition on 41 points! That was incredible golf. Well done!!!
Also congrates to Ivan Olsen on winning the Rod Turnbull Shield with his lucky numbers. Well played.
The lucky draw which was sponsored by the Colin Wyatt family raised over R2,400 for the Club! A big thanks to the Wyatt family for sponsoring such a fantastic prize.
Thanks to all that entered. When I was going around selling the tickets, Joshua bought 12. Paul Heroldt said to him why he was buying so many tickets and he he said its because he wanted to win the night stay in Hermanus. Paul responded by saying you only need 1 ticket to win, and proceeded to purchase a single ticket.
Well what do you know...that one ticket was the winning ticket, so Paul Heroldt gets to spend a night at Golfers paradise at the 4 star Bamboo Guest House in Hermanus. Congrats buddy!

It is with emense Sadness that I report another of Leyland members has left the departure Lounge.
On Saturdey 15th January Sven Olsen passed away.
He had been a member since 2001 and Chaired the Committee for a number of years.
We will all miss you Sven, your friendship and humour will be with us always.

Regarding the booking of games :
It is becoming apparent the some members are becoming very selective in booking their games.
It seems that they are only supporting the games that are at the better " more expensive " courses and not booking games like Malmesbury and Wellington.
Our Cost is an average over the whole year and we try hard to keep these fees as low as possible.
We may have to look at changing our system if this trend continues .
