Leyland Golf Society

Constitution

1.   HISTORY OF NAME:

The society was founded by the employees of B.M.C (British Motor Corporation) in 1958 as a section of their Social Club activities.

The name changed to AAD (Automotive Assemblers and Distributors) for a period from about 1985 to 1995 when Leyland SA closed down.

The name of Leyland Golf Society was reintroduced to reflect the history and cups still in existence.

2. MEMBERSHIP

 2.1 OBJECTIVES

•         Leyland Golf Society is a Social Club but will promote the etiquette and rules of golf.

Whilst winning is always exciting, individuals who seek golfing glory as their main goal, are unlikely to fit in to our group.

Whilst enjoying our golf, we are generally more attracted to sharing a few laughs on and off the course in pleasant company.

We will limit our membership to 60 maximum paid up members. Any guests who qualify to join will be put on hold until a  vacancy occurs.

Entries to individual games will be limitted to 48 players maximum. This is especially necessary where we all play off of one tee.   Members will be able to book guests on the condition that the booking may be cancelled (and any monies paid will be refunded) if a paid up member wishes to play.

2.2   NEW MEMBERS

A Visitor/Guest must play a minimum of 3 games in a period of twelve months to be eligible for membership and these games should normally be played in the same four ball as their sponsor. On the 4th outing he/she is expected to join and pay full dues.

The committee will only approve membership when the full subscription fees have been paid. Annual subscriptions will be charged on a pro-rata basis depending on what time of the year the new member qualifies for membership.

Visitors/Guests are not eligible to win prizes but are eligible to win Nearest the Pin awards.

A members may invite a maximum of one Visitor/Guest per game and must book the person using the prescribed members booking system. The member is fully responsible for the visitor’s fees.

•        A new member may not book a guest until he/she has played three games as a member.

Guests and members not eligible may still play in the Championship but are excluded from winning any of the first three prizes.

The committee will decide on eligibility in the case of on any disputes.

New members, on joining, will pay pro rata for the year’s subscriptions.

6.  HANDICAPS:

A handicap list will be available on the Chrab booking system, on the game tee off list and at all outings

and on the game tee off times list.

Leyland Golf Society handicaps will be calculated by averaging the differentials from the

last six games (where available) and applying a 85% rule and then rounding up or down to a whole number.
